Clare is situated in the middle of the Stour Valley on the Suffolk and Essex border. Clare is a delightful wool town with a large Church of England church at its centre. There is plenty to do in this idyllic location with the remains of the Norman Motte & Bailey Castle which is now the Clare Country Park. This is an ideal place to enjoy a walk or bring the children to play on the swings, see the river and have a picnic. There is also the award winning Nuttery walk behind the Swan Pub, the remains of a Saxon Fort on the Common, and the Priory which is on the remains of a Augustine Monastery.
Clare also has some great shops which are different to the mainstream shops you find in larger towns and cities. So if you are looking for something different then Clare may have it. We also have all the key services you need in any small town, like a green grocers, Co-Op, hardware shop, butchers and of course a fantastic pharmacy.
There are are plenty of cafes, pubs, restaurants and takeaways in Clare to meet everyone's taste and visiting times.
The history of Clare stretches back a long way - click here to see the history (Wikipedia).
